Dior ad Campaign stirs up controversy..........again!

Christian Dior, House of Dior, photos taken by Quentin Shih- Shanghai Dreamers series
These images are just a few in a series of controversial images from Dior's new ad campaign launching the fashion houses'opening in Shanghai, China. The photographer is Quentin Shih and this is not the first time he's worked for Dior or stirred up controversy.  In 2008, Shih snapped a series called The Glass Box. I recently read an interesting article on lemondrop.com that speaks to the controversy that Shih's photos can be considered racist and derogatory towards Chinese culture.  If you look closely, you'll see that all of the models look the same expect the Caucasian model.  Shih used the same model and simply duplicated the image.  This plays on the stereotype of all Asians looking alike however, that was not Shih's intent.  According to Shih, this was his intention to create a feeling of uniqueness;  an individualistic take relating to Dior's clothing style. In the end you can't deny the press and exposure that this is getting....................it all equals dollar signs.  What do you think?
